When A Non-Player Character Awakens

Poem written and authored by T. Lee Thompson

Psychedelic ~ Paisley ~ Purple ~ Yellow ~ Swirls and curls

The spirals spinning ~ spinning all around and round

We get stuck ~ we get stuck ~ in the maze of our lives

Wanting to pound down the walls

But rather than an attempt to backtrack our steps, we pointlessly try again.

It never ends

It never ends

FUCK IT! Why does it never end?

And then, like a massive crash, you hit it, you hit the end

Yes, it’s the Fucking end alright!

And you don’t want to go ~

Because now you finally realize why you came here in the first place~

What the maze really means ~

And why did you walk into so many walls, seemingly purposely taking so many wrong falls?

Again, and again

It never ends

FUCK IT! Why does it never end?

Until again there is a crash, and like bricks tumbling to the ground

You awaken to someone pounding on your door

When you open the door, to your surprise, two people are yelling at you

‘Turn off your music! We are sick of that song you play all the time!’

What song, I say?

Quite suddenly you are aware and awoken by these strangers at your door.

A woman with a white rabbit tattoo on her shoulder

And a sleezy man standing too close to the woman in her inebriated condition

Then like being woken out of a dream, you are hearing the music playing repeatedly

It’s a small world after all ~ it’s a small world after all ~ it’s a small world…. the music goes.

Those high-pitched voices of the singers are like needles ringing in your ears.

You run towards the record player and grab the record from the turntable

And just like that, you throw the record onto the floor

It crashes into millions of tiny broken shards of plastic

And in an Instant like slow motion

The non-player has awoken

Fucking Right!
